At Giving Hope in DuBois, we don’t just believe in the Corporal Works of Mercy—we work to live them out every day, right here in our community. These aren’t abstract ideals. They are real, practical calls to action that guide how we serve people facing hardship, homelessness, and uncertainty.

Feed the Hungry
Hunger isn’t always visible, but it’s everywhere. We help connect individuals and families with food resources, distribute meals when possible, and make sure no one is left navigating hunger alone. Sometimes it’s a meal. Sometimes it’s access. Always, it’s dignity.

Give Drink to the Thirsty
Basic needs matter. Whether it’s bottled water, access to services, or simply helping someone meet immediate survival needs, we step in where we can. Care begins with meeting people where they are.

Clothe the Naked
Clothing is more than comfort—it’s confidence, warmth, and self-worth. We help connect individuals with clothing resources and community support so they can face the world with a little more stability and dignity.

Shelter the Homeless
This is at the heart of what we do. “Shelter” doesn’t just mean a roof—it means solutions. We help people navigate services they’re entitled to, locate shelter beds, and when needed, assist with temporary options like hotel stays. We also work toward long-term stability through guidance, connection, and advocacy.

Care for the Sick
Many we serve are battling physical and mental health challenges. While we are not medical providers, we help bridge the gap—connecting people with care, supporting them through difficult moments, and making sure they’re not facing illness alone.

Visit the Imprisoned
Imprisonment isn’t always behind bars. Many people are trapped by circumstance—poverty, addiction, trauma, or systemic barriers. We show up for those who feel forgotten, offering support, connection, and a path forward. Everyone deserves to be seen and not defined by their situation.

These works, drawn from Matthew 25, remind us that service is not about charity alone—it’s about recognizing the humanity in every person. And while these teachings appear throughout Scripture—from Proverbs to Isaiah, from the Gospels to Revelation—the message is the same:

Care for one another. Show up. Make a difference.
